Introducing Garden City Arts
We are thrilled to announce the launch of Garden City Arts at New Haven Church!
The unveiling of Garden City Arts has ignited tremendous excitement within our community. Over the past year, members of our church have shared a dream of creating a dedicated space where creatives can gather to celebrate each other's work and cultivate an environment that fosters creativity.
We envision a place where artists can share their art, writers can share their writing, musicians can share their music—a vibrant hub of artistic expression reminiscent of the gatherings of The Inklings at The Eagle & Child. Garden City Arts embodies the realization of this collective vision.
At our church, we hold creativity in high regard because it reflects God's own nature. As stated in Genesis 1:27, humanity was created in the image of God, endowed with the capacity for creativity. This divine appreciation for creativity is further exemplified in Exodus 31, where God provided detailed instructions for the construction of the Tabernacle and its furnishings, selecting Bezalel from the Tribe of Judah as a master craftsman filled with the Spirit of God.
We are cultivating Appalachia's stories, sounds, and arts, envisioning a Garden City where beauty and creativity abound.
The Meaning of the Logo
We've received wonderful feedback on the logo designed for Garden City Arts, with many expressing admiration for its unique style and symbolism.
The logo features a distinctive "woodcut" design (which is the oldest form of printmaking), paying homage to the enduring natural beauty of the Appalachian region — home to some of the world's oldest woods and mountains.
Upon closer examination, Boone County natives will recognize familiar landmarks within our logo. At its center is the iconic Boone County Courthouse, characterized by its Greco-Roman revival architecture, majestic pillars, and a golden dome tapering elegantly to a singular point. Encircling the courthouse are hills and a picturesque town nestled within a garden-like landscape, all under the radiant sun — an emblem of our vision to transform Boone County into a Garden City.
In this logo, Christ is symbolized as the "sun of righteousness" and "the light of the world," shining over our community as we strive toward the Kingdom of God. Our logo captures not only the essence of our town but also symbolizes our vision for its future transformation.

Boone County is not just our home; it's our canvas. Together, let's unleash our creativity to paint a new narrative — a narrative of beauty, truth, and goodness for our community. Whether you're inspired by our rich Appalachian heritage, the breathtaking landscapes, or the untold stories waiting to be shared, there's a place for you here.
In the near future, Garden City Arts will convene to share work and collaborate on projects together. Our vision is for this creative space to yield art that enriches not only our church but also our entire community.
Our goal is to cultivate collective projects that celebrate and honor our Appalachian heritage — crafting distinctive, faithful art that glorifies God and serves sacred purposes. These creative endeavors will integrate music, paintings, poetry, graphic design, photography, videography, and other forms to art in a way that is all interconnected by a common theme and purpose.
